If you have not priced auto parts lately you may be surprised at the prices they’re charging these days. I haven’t bought a lot of parts for the car recently, so really wasn’t aware of any of the prices that existed. After driving around for about 6 months with a bad battery in my car, I went to buy a new one. Do you know the price range of a new battery? I did know they will cut you a discount, if you let them keep your old battery. I didn’t need my bad battery, so I was gladly going to let them keep it and was figuring I could get a pretty good deal on a new battery. Guess which price range you think a new battery will cost, if you let them keep your old battery for a lower price:

A) $25

B) $50

C) $75

D) $100

Remember that you can buy car parts for a discount online and install them yourself like a battery or take them into your local shop and save some money. I was thinking a new battery would cost about $40. Add in the discount for them keeping my old car battery and I was thinking the total cost would be closer to $25 than the 50 dollar price range. I was way off in my estimates. A new battery for my car was in the 69 to 99 dollar range. I went with the higher priced battery and even with my discount, I ended up paying about $90 for my new battery. So if you guessed “D”, you would have been right! Or you could get a cheaper battery for the “C” range of pricing for a new car battery. If you need a new battery, expect to pay 70 dollars or more.
